Bicycle Mono shock... Yea not going to work :(

The position of the mount on the swingarm is in such a position that the force put on the chock will be like 6-8 times the force put on the wheel. Since the bike with me on it weighs in at around 325 lbs that means that the shock will be absorbing close to 2k lbs of static load. Bike shocks are not meant for that, with the shock pumped to max you can compress it by pushing down on the frame.

Oh well it was too perfect of a solution to work. Guess it's time to think about a motorcycle shock. Since I was thinking about building a one off swingarm I think I can add an inch or two in leinth so that the final mount location allows a better ration 4:1 for shock load.

you might check out a shock from a tomos arrow or one of the other mono shock'd mopeds. they aren't overly huge, but work great.
